As you know, for the past two weeks, we’ve been dealing with all kinds of sickness around the Johnston household.  Kylie was out of school for a week with a bad case of pharyngitis, Andy was out a few days with what he thinks was the flu, and the boys had strep.  I had a little fever here and there, but overall, I was well enough to keep things together around her.

Until last night.

I noticed that I started itching in different places yesterday, but it was really no big deal.  I thought a mosquito had gotten into the house or something.  Then, I noticed that my left eye was a little harder to open than usual, and last night, after dinner, I noticed those itchy places were little clusters of raised red bumps.  My eye started swelling a little more.

I’ve never had an issue with allergies, except for when I was about 12 years old, and I had a bad bout with poison oak all over my entire face.  It was horrible.

Kylie got on her school computer which has some kind of app that you type in the symptoms to find out what’s wrong.

  • Swollen eyes
  • Itchy dots
  • Fatigue
  • Stress

She diagnosed me with hives!  I’ve never had hives before!

This morning, I woke up looking like this.

possible hives

My eyes are swollen, and my lips are so swollen, I can barely drink my coffee!  My fingers and toes and swollen and tight, and the palms of my hands and bottom of my feet itch like crazy!

I don’t like taking Benadryl, because I hate that it’s so harsh, and I don’t want my milk to dry up, so I’m going to try taking a more natural approach with something that I reviewed a while back – Rainbow Light Allergy Rescue – and we’ll see if that helps any!

Just a day in the life of the Johnstons.  We call it McCrory’s Law (my maiden name).  If it’s going to happen bad, it’s going to happen to us.
