Day six of the Flats Challenge was a great day, for me and my love for flats!  One of the things that I did was come up with a new fold that was a little more involved than the super easy Jett Fold, but it also shows that you can truly use something that you already have in your home to cloth diaper without cutting, sewing, or altering in any way.

Flats Challenge 2013

Double Dish Towel Fold

The Double Dish Towel Fold will allow those who do not have flats or receiving blankets to use ordinary dish towels as diapers until they are unable to acquire some!

All you need is two dish towels and some kind of fastener, whether it’s pins, a snappi, or even duct tape! 🙂

Double Dish Towel Fold

1.  Lay one towel out flat, and fold the other in half l iaying it just under the middle of the first towel.

2. Fold the second towel over once as it will be the beginning of a trifold.

3. Fold the first towel diagonally over the second towel and tuck it under the first of the trifold.

4. Fold the second towel over to compelete a trifold.

5. Fold the first towel diagonally over the second towel from the other side, and tuck it under the completed trifold.

6. Lay your baby on the folded diaper.  You can take the front panel and fold it over to make the rise work for your baby.

7. Fasten the diaper on your baby.  I like to try to grab the first towel from the tabs as well as the front panel to prevent slipping, but I’ve found that because it’s folded, you do not need to “grab” it from above/below.  If you’re using pins, just pin the tabs.

I use a stay dry fleece liner down the center of the towel for my son!

I’m participating in the Flats and Handwashing Challenge hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry.
