There is a huge debate between natural foodies as to whether or not natural or organic food is better for your kids. On the one hand, certified organic food is in fact certified and almost guaranteed organic. On the other hand, certified organic food is more expensive in some cases.

Organic food is popping up everywhere, there are even organic restaurants showing up on different street corners. With all the information on what is really in food these days, more people are turning to organic food options. The downside is that organic food can often be expensive, too often it’s way beyond the price ranges of most budgets.

However, if you can’t afford food with a certified organic label, you can still eat healthy. A name brand yogurt at a local supermarket in my area has a less expensive price tag, and the same ingredients as a certified organic yogurt.

Finding natural food these days isn’t much of a problem. Even Walmart sells natural jams and jellies. If you’re a proficient label reader, it’s pretty easy to find natural bread and even snack items. For the freshest and delicious breads, make sure to get your daily supplies from your local bakery or fresh bread delivery service. Once you get past the chemically engineered items, you can find affordable (and yummy tasting!) food. Learn what additives and ingredients to avoid, and start reading labels! It’s the best way to find nourishing food.

While it’s important to support your local farmers and organic stores, if you can’t always afford the hefty price tag you can still feed your family delicious and completely healthy food. Organic is great, but sometimes times it’s more affordable and cost effective to label read and buy organic items when you can.
