While retail corporations would have us believe that Thanksgiving is all about the turkey and stuffing, in reality, it’s all about giving. And what better way to celebrate this holiday than to give back around your community and around the world?

Donate to a charity that feeds hungry children- One in five children go to bed hungry every night and charities working to end child hunger help make sure that children around the world get a meal each and every day.

Donate food- Whether it’s to a food pantry or putting a few boxes of stuffing into a food donation box in Walmart, donating excess food to the hungry is a great way to give back.

Volunteer at a food pantry or soup kitchen- Volunteers are especially needed around the holiday season and it’s a great way for teens to help give back to their communities.

Run in a Turkey Trot – If fitness is your thing, find a local Turkey Trot and participate! All proceeds are given to a local food pantry.

Give a meal to a neighbor- If you have a neighbor or family who are going through a rough time, why not give them a meal? Whether or not it’s an illness in the family, financial issues, or just life, the gesture will be greatly appreciated.

How do you give back around Thanksgiving?
