Since warmer weather is here, everyone is focused on toning up and getting ready for the beach. If you have younger kids, going to the gym isn’t an option, but there are still ways that you can exercise.

For those who live in a subdivision or in a suburban area, a walk around the neighborhood and then a walk to the park is a perfect way to get a workout in for everyone. It’s a great excuse to stop by local ponds and feed the ducks as well as observe all the budding trees and flowers.

If you live in the city, local forest preserves, wildlife parks, and your local beach (if you live next to one) are great ways to get into nature. Besides picking flowers, playing with sticks, and catching frogs, you might even see a few deer!

For the yoga mamas out there it’s easy to modify your moves each morning to include the kids. They love helping roll out yoga mats and can easily copy most moves. The great thing is that you not only get a work out in, but it also calms down hyperactive kids before bed.

Of course, if you have a wii system and exercise games, you can always have a workout jam to Just Dance, Zumba, Wii Fit or any other workout games with your kiddos if they’re old enough to understand the moves and join in.

It’s hard to work out with kiddos around, but mixing it up and getting creative, even turning Just Dance on for the kids while you hop on the treadmill makes a huge difference and helps everyone to get a workout in.
