Aside from curbing the cravings for your favorite afternoon sweet snack, water consumption has to be one of the hardest things for someone who is trying to live a healthier life to do.   It really does get old if you don’t shake it up a bit.  Below, you’ll find my recipe for breaking up the mundane necessity of drinking water with my HOT Pink Lemonade Mix Recipe!

HOT Pink Lemonade Mix Recipe

Honestly, the first thing I would do would be to invest in a water bottle or cup that you really like.  You might even want to get two.  There are all kind of cups and bottles out there.  The key is to make it fun and switch it up. Have something to look forward to, rather than forcing yourself to have to do it.  For your run of the mill everyday habits, I would make sure you get a bottle that’s big enough that you’re not having to walk back and forth to the faucet or water cooler all day.

TIME OUT

I’m real.  Normally, people would say.. YES!  Get up and walk.  Get those steps in to get your water.  The reality of it is…. you’re not going to do that.  If you don’t really want to drink water in the first place, when the well runs dry, you’re not going to go out of your way to refill.  You’re going to wait until it’s convenient for you.  That’s why I suggest a larger cup or bottle.

TIME IN

Hubs and I just made the switch from the small, 20 oz BlenderBottle (or Shaker Bottle) to the taller 28 oz BlenderBottle with a loops.  I really don’t have an idea what the actual loops is for, but I’ll tell you what – when you’re getting your kids and all of your junk unloaded from the car, it’s so much easier to hook that loop around your pinky finger and carry it in than it is to try to juggle everything!

Why the BlenderBottle?  It’s cheap, it has the steel blender ball thingy in it that really mixes your drinks well, and because we use it for everything.

That said… if you’re drinking AdvoCare Spark or any other energy type mixes, I would suggest getting a tinted bottle because the vitamins will eventually begin to tint your bottle, and the clear ones will turn orangeish!

Now, the whole reason for this post.  A lot of people tell you to add lemon to your water if you get tired of drinking it plain.  That’s cool, but I kick it up a bit with my HOT Pink Lemonade Mix!

HOT Pink Lemonade Mix Recipe

  • 1 cup brewed hibiscus tea
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (or squeezed and then frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
  • OPTIONAL 1/4 cup of honey (if you need a little sweet with it!)

Mix these together and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.  Add as much or as little to your water bottle.  The cayenne pepper is to give it a little kick!  The honey is absolutely optional.

Actually all of it is optional.  If you don’t like it, next time, squeeze some juice from your orange in your water.  Add cucumbers.  Dice up strawberries.  Whatever you’d like!

Why hibiscus tea?  Because it’s pink, and it’s not going to take away from your water, or risk blowing your healthy lifestyle.  I’m not medical expert, but I’ve read in many studies that hibiscus tea is high in antioxidants and it can help with a plethora of medical issues (make sure you ask your medical professional, though if you have any doubts!).

Why cayenne pepper?  It’s fun, it gives it a kick, and it aids in digestion.

There you have it!  Whether you like this recipe or not, the key is to change things up a little. Whether it’s your water bottle, adding ice, adding other fruit flavors, or whatever, YOU CAN DO IT!

Keep up the good work!
