Summer is almost over, but that doesn’t mean that all your family’s fun should be too! In fact, there will be plenty of fun. In fact, there are a few federal holidays and special days throughout the fall when you and your family can spend some quality time together. Here are my top ideas for exciting family activities this fall.

Exciting Days For You And The Family This Fall

Harvest Festival

People have been celebrating the Harvest Festival since the ancient times. It takes place around the first big harvest of the year. Communities get together to celebrate the abundance of food and crops. There should be lots of celebrations going on in your town or city. Many churches hold special services. Schools also celebrate the harvest festival by asking children to bring in their favorite food. If you want to mark this special occasion at home with your family, you should spend a day together cooking and preparing your favorite meal!

Labor Day

Labor Day is a federal holiday that aims to celebrate the prosperity of the country and its hardworking citizens. As it is a federal holiday, most people will get the day off work and school. Most towns and cities hold parades and public barbecues. Many families spend Labor Day together enjoying each other’s company. As it’s the last long weekend before school starts, most families see it as the last hurrah before term starts again.

Halloween

Halloween will probably be your children’s’ favorite day in the whole of fall! They’ll love getting dressed up and going around the neighborhood trick or treating. One of the best ways to enjoy Halloween together is to throw your own party at home. Invite all your friends and family around. Make sure everyone knows to come in costume! Put on a small buffet and get plenty of beer and soda in. You can also organize some games, such as apple bobbing, for the kids.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving gives you a great excuse to get all the family together and enjoy a delicious feast! This federal holiday celebrates the harvest. It also remembers when the Native Americans helped the first British settlers in America. Traditionally, families cook a large turkey with plenty of side dishes, such as bean casserole and candied yams. There are also many alternative ways you can celebrate this holiday. Some families like to spend their day off together by going on hikes or long bike rides.

Veterans Day

This federal holiday thanks all the veterans who have put their lives on the line protecting the country. Most families cook together and enjoy a large meal. Towns and cities also hold fun parades that include marches and brass band performances by local military units. There is also a small ceremony held at war memorials where current soldiers and other army men place wreaths on the memorial. You and your family might like to give thanks to servicemen by volunteering for the day!

As you can see, there are plenty of days you can enjoy with your family this fall. How will you spend yours?
