When trying to decide on the next Tropical Traditions item to feature for you, I was a little hesitant about this one.  I kept thinking, “what in the world does one do with Coconut  Water Vinegar?”  Truth be told, I love this stuff!

The whole concept seemed pretty strange to me, and I even asked a representative of Tropical Traditions if this could be used for cleaning, washing, etc.  He told me it’s mainly used for cooking as most cleaning vinegars are distilled.

In the Philippines and other tropical places, raw coconut water is often left in the open air to ferment, where it eventually turns into a vinegar. The fermentation process enhances the nutrients, unlike heat pasteurization.

Coconut water is high in many vitamins and minerals, especially potassium.  Because of this, one can assume (I have not researched this and Tropical Traditions has not made claims to this) that this may help with conditions such as low blood pressure, muscle cramps and abnormalities, sciatica troubles, low energy levels, and more (please consult a care provider.).

When reading up on coconut water, I came across this extremely awesome fact:

It has been reported that during World War II coconut water was used in emergencies as IV fluids, since the nutrient-packed water is completely sterile inside the coconut until the hard shell is cracked and it is exposed to air.

So far, we’ve used the Tropical Traditions Coconut Water Vinegar in buttermilk pancakes, buttermilk biscuits, in a marinade for meats, and in vinegar and oil dressings for salad. You simply change out your white or apple cider vinegar with coconut water vinegar in these recipes.  You’ll find it has a bit of a sweeter kick!  It’s so fantastic.  I’ve also just added a teaspoon or two to a glass of water for a surprising refreshing drink. Because it’s high in electrolytes, it’s great for keeping this nursing mom hydrated!

The great news is that a little bit of this vinegar goes a really long way.
