So it’s day four of the Flats Challenge, and we’re still trucking!  Today, flats have been worn to a Kindergarten graduation (not by the kindergartner, I might add), to get the van out of the shop, to run through the drive-through to get coffee, and to the babysitter’s house!

Flats Challenge Question of the Day

Dirty Diaper Laundry asks: Thoughts on Handwashing – How am I doing?

Between the Kids replies:  I actually don’t mind the handwashing.  I wash a diaper after each diaper change, so it’s easier to manage rather than having a sink full of diapers to wash.  I don’t even mind the line drying, because it’s pretty hot here, and when it’s not raining, the diapers dry pretty quickly.  When it does rain, I know how to turn just about anything into a flat diaper, so if I run out of dry diapers, I can just improvise!

The only thing I don’t really like, and I’ve mentioned it before, is the way that the flats feel after they’ve been line dried.  I just have this issue with the stiffness going on Jett’s bottom!  I’ve been told to pop and twist, but even when I do, it still seems to be rough.  However, that’s definitely not something that would keep me from using flats.

I tried washing in our smaller sink, and well, that was a mess!  Water splashed everywhere!  I did find that I’m using less water if I use the little sink that if I use my big sink.

It takes me about 2-3 minutes to get a pee diaper completely clean, and probably about 5 minutes TOPS to get a poopy diaper really clean.  But, you have to remember, that Jett is 19 months old and he doesn’t pee as much as he used to, so it’s easier!

Handwashing doesn’t gross me out!

I’m probably the only person who doesn’t get grossed out by handwashing!  It ain’t nothin’ but a thang.  No big deal.  It’s just pee and poop.  I’ve seen it all, smelled it all, stepped in it all, and worn it all!  The least I can do is wash it all, right?!

And yes, this happened, today!

Look what else happened today…

The brother in the picture above…. ^^^ … you know, the almost 9 year old one?  He decided it would be cool to swing from my clothesline.  Boy was he wrong!

Broken Clothes Line

It’s fixed now, though, but I sure made him think it took more than just a little knot around the silver ring!

I’m participating in the Flats and Handwashing Challenge hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry.
