I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new DVD, and I can’t stand it any longer!!  The new VeggieTales Merry Larry and the True Lights of Christmas is finally here!!  I’m excited, not only because it’s Veggie Tales, but this new release features some pretty awesome folks including Owl City, TobyMac and none other than UNCLE SI ROBERTSON!!!  (Yes, I’m this excited in real life!)

I think it’s awfully fitting that Uncle Si and okra janitor.  You don’t get much more southern than okra!  They have made his okra character look pretty much exactly what you’d think Si would look like if he were an okra!

There are so many awesome elements surrounding this movie.  It’s not just about Si and the other awesome celebs involved in the making of this movie, but it reaches out so much further than the fundamental meaning of Christmas.  It’s about God’s love that he sent us His Son and the love that we as Christians are called by God to show mankind.  By teaming up with Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child, VeggieTales and Duck Commander are setting an awesome example for not only our children, but for you and me as well.  It’s just awe-inspiring.  (And, it’s awesome to know that Mommy Bag Marketing has partnered with Samaritan’s Purse, so look for shoebox labels in Mommy Resource Bags!)

We will DEFINITELY be packing couple of shoeboxes this year.

Top-rated reality television star, Si Robertson, is transformed into a loveable and wise okra janitor named Silas. Silas narrates the adventures of the holiday flick, which stars Larry the Cucumber, the vibrant Head Elf of the mall who will stop at nothing to assist a compassionate young girl on her quest to help a neighbor in need for Christmas. Bob the Tomato co-stars as Phillip Fleagle, a harried mall employee who takes some time to realize that there is more to the holiday season than material gifts and light displays.

If you haven’t heard the theme song for the movie, take a few minutes and click on this video to listen to it!  It’s so upbeat, and my kiddos love it!  It’s called “Light of Christmas” by Owl City featuring one of our family’s  favorites, TobyMac.

In the Spirit of the holidays and in keeping with its core mission, VeggieTales is working with Operation Christmas Child, a global children’s project of Samaritan’s Purse. This year, Bob and Larry are official spokes-vegetables to encourage families to join in the collection of millions of shoebox gifts and to share God’s love with children in need.

In watching this movie, it really makes me realize that I haven’t taught my boys how to be very giving.  Until recent changes in the law, my best friend has always taken her boys to their local soup kitchen to help out on Christmas, and I’d love for my boys to learn that selflessness.

Ok, let’s get down to what we’ve all been waiting for!  Enter to win your very own copy of VeggieTales Merry Larry and the True Lights of Christmas!!
