This is my teen’s idea of a clean kitchen. | #teenagers #teens #fail

Last week, Kylie had an off-the-wall project due in Language arts.  They were reading the book Tom Sawyer, and the teacher gave them a few projects from which to choose.  I can't remember what all of them were, but the only two that Kylie talked about (because she's a cooking freak!) were 1) making jam, and 2) making donuts.  The jam, I get.  The donuts, I don't.  However, she chose donuts.  She found a recipe she liked, tried it out a few days before, and they were pretty good.  So last Wednesday, she made 24 donuts and 24 donut holes.…

Starting this week, I am going to start an attachment/natural parenting series called called "Dad's Perspective Attachment Parenting Series". Andrew Johnston is an IT guy at a real estate company, and he lives on the east…

Kylie won her very first race! | #run #race #3k #proudmama

Many of you may know my sister, Kara.  Kara was/is the runner in our family.  Growing up, she was fast, and an extremely talented runner.  We have recently learned, though, that Kylie is following in her Aunt Kara's footsteps - literally. After trying out for the volleyball team resulted in the realization that having never played before is a surefire way to not make the team, Kylie decided to push herself to the limits during her athletic class and run with all of her might.  We've heard several of her friends tell us that Kylie goes all out while running…

Carex Health Brands – Bed Buddy®: Plush ThermaTherapy® Set Review | #health #doula

My doula bag just got a little heavier!  It has received a velvety plush, all natural, upgrade thanks to Carex Health Brands. This is great new to my clients, because I am now the proud owner of some fantastic products that will not only help them during labor, but products that they are going to want to use for postpartum and beyond! When I went to Brandcation in May, one of the products I came home with was from Carex Health Brands .  I knew I would have a love affair with this company, because many of the items they offer…

I dream of custom closets! Preferably, my own!

I live with a teenage girl.  I'm not sure if you know what all comes with a teenage girl, but aside from drama and sports as well as always striving to have perfect hair and makeup, they have stuff.  Loads and loads of stuff. I wasn't quite prepared to have to give up a closet in the office as a spill over, of sorts, but it's happened!  She has everything from clothes and shoes to guinea pig supplies in both of her closets with overflowing closet organizers in each. Have you ever seen the movie Overboard with Kurt Russel and Goldie…

Treasurette Jewelry Review – #EcoFriendly Jewelry Giveaway (5/11)

I love it when I run across products that are not only adorable, but also products that are made from recycled or upcycled (prepurposed) materials! Kylie and I are both a big fan of fun jewelry that also serves a purpose in making our world a better place. Treasurette is an eco-friendly and fab-glam jewelry line out of San Diego, California that is doing just that - helping keep their community and beaches clean and beautiful.  What's not to love? We were given the opportunity to review one of these adorable necklaces, and I have to say, the little bows…

I guess it's a teenage girl thing, but Kylie is obsessed with her hair and her overall appearance.  She can't leave the house in the morning without her hair being absolutely perfect.  She often wakes up early for specific hair styles, but most of the time, she sticks with the quick, yet elegant, up-dos so that she can sleep as late as possible! If you need treatments to maintain such hair, click here and get the best solution for the same. You may also visit your local hair salon with years of experience providing excellent hair services. Childhood Obesity: A Double Standard for Public Schools and Parents? | #fitness & #foodrevolution

My children, are far from obese.  I would even venture to say, that my oldest two aren't even overweight.  According to Fort Bend ISD in Texas, I am wrong. Kylie, our 13 year old daughter, asked me last night, if she was overweight.  I looked at her really funny and told her "no way!"  But then, I wanted to know why she felt that way.  Kylie is very self conscious.  As a victim of past bullying (unrelated to weight), Kylie has put a lot of time and effort into her appearance and health.  She has seen how mean kids can…
