Tropical Traditions Gold Label Coconut Oil Review and Giveaway

Never in my life have a followed a real recipe.  I’m the kind of person who likes to take the things she has in her kitchen and throw them together according to what I feel like goes well together!  The only time I ever even look at a recipe is when something doesn’t make sense to me, or if I need to find out how to make something rise of do some fancy tricks in a way I’m not familiar!

If you haven’t noticed (how could you not, right?), my family and I have started eating more healthy since April.  It’s been almost 4 months since we’ve changed our lifestlye, and one of the products we’ve added to our daily cooking has been the Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil.  We completely did away with vegetable, corn, and canola oil, and we’ve replaced them with this great, light, and very tasty oil.

When we first started using the oil, we had several people tell us that it’s high in fat, and that we’d gain all of our weight back while cooking with it.  Boy, were they wrong. With a lot of healthy eating and hard work on the exercise home front, the coconut oil has in no way hindered our ability to bring out the pounds.  Currently, I’ve lost over 30 pounds (in 4 months), and Andy has lost around 25 pounds! So that you’re not confused, I’m not saying that this oil has helped us lose weight, because that’s not the case, HOWEVER, there is a difference in good fats and bad fats.  The fats from coconut oil are all good fats that are easily digested!

The great thing about this oil is that it’s so versatile and it fits well with my eclectic cooking methods!  We’ve used this oil in everything from stir fry to pita chips, and we have been super pleased with the quality of this oil.  It is very light as well as has a very nice coconut flavor that is not overwhelming to the taste buds.  I’ve even used this stuff on my hands and feet as a softener!

From Tropical Traditions Website:
This Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This coconut oil is made on Mt. Banahaw and surrounding areas from organic coconuts. Coconuts are used fresh (within 24-48 hours of harvest) from small family farms on Mt. Banahaw and other rural places in Quezon Province, the coconut capital of the Philippines. Only the highest quality coconuts are hand-picked from each harvest. The volcanic soil of Mt. Banahaw makes these organic coconuts some of the most nutritionally rich coconuts in the world!

  5. Coconut oil is good for health. It is not only good for hair and skin but also helps in maintaining cholestrol, blood pressure ,heart diseases etc. Also, coconut milk is not the stable food for all ages. Hence its better to use coconut oil instead of other refined/bran oils

  11. The recipe that I want to try would have to be hands down the Coconut Cocoa Pecan Chocolate Chip Brownies not only because the picture made me drool on my keyboard but because the recipe combines chocolate, pecans, and coconut oil! Can you say delish? Wonder if the coconut oil cancels out the chocolate and makes ’em “healthy” brownies? Hmm…
