Why didn’t you rinse the cloth diaper first? #clothdiapers

*Warning*  This post talks about baby poop. Why didn't you rinse the cloth diaper first? Yesterday, after our Kids Beach Club preparation, I stopped by my mom's house.  Jett pooped, and I just kinda rolled his diaper up, put it in the wetbag, and put a clean diaper on him.  I didn't really think anything about it, because I do this all the time.  It's my routine when I'm out and about. Today, when I took him to her house so that I could go get my hair cut, I noticed that when I got him out of the car…

The Tale of an Exhausting Diaper Change – *gross warning* | #clothdiapers #parenting #fail

This morning was an absolute mess! I was getting a little work done when Jett woke up.  I always like to try to nurse him for a few minutes and play with him to get his little "good mood" juices flowing before I change him out of his nighttime diaper. Normally,  he waits until mid morning or later to poop, but twice this week, he's pooped before I was able to change him out of his nighttime diaper.  No biggie, right?  Ha. Breastfed poop is more runny than other poop, so it's like he has diarrhea all the time (except he doesn't),…

Shaving Wool Diaper Covers – Great Tools for Shaving Wool | #clothdiapers

We all want our wool to look nice.  I know I do.  Knitted and crochet wool diaper covers, pants, and shorties have a tendency, overtime, to fuzz and (what we call) "pill". Basically, this means that the wool will become fuzzy and small pilly balls will form. So, when you'd like to take the little one out in wool, or if you're ready to put your wool up for sale, these pills aren't as appealing as nice and pretty wool. Does this mean that your wool is no longer usable and will never look nice again?  NO! There are a couple…

Blissful Booty Perfect Pockets Review & Giveaway | #ClothDiaper (ends 7/6)

One of the very first diapers that I ever received when Jett was born was a Blissful Booty AIO newborn diaper.  It was also the first diaper that was ever put on his bottom.  In hindsight, I wish I would have asked the photographer to get a photo of his diaper, rather than waiting until he had his clothes on!  I've thought about this for eight months! Now that he's eight  months old the newborn diapers have been passed on to a new baby and I am now able to get a good fit on one size diapers. With Braxton…

Day 7: Flats and Handwashing Challenge – #flatschallenge #clothdiapers

Yay!  We made it through seven days of flat cloth diapers and handwashing and drying. It's been a long week, but that is totally unrelated to diapering! The main thing that I've learned during this old school week of diapering is that it's not really that hard.  Although I see why cloth diapers have evolved into the modern styles that we have, I also see that if we didn't have a choice, flats aren't really that bad! Here are a few things that I've learned during this week. Flats are fun, and we'll probably use them a lot more often!…

Day 6: Flats and Handwashing Challenge – #flatschallenge #clothdiapers

Truth be told, all of Jett's AIOs, Pockets, Fitteds, and Prefolds are in storage!  We just have too big of a stash to bring to my parents' house while we wait on the closing of our home. It's not always easy to live in someone else's house and cloth diaper, especially if they're not 100% behind you using their washer and dryer for diapers (we don't have that problem here, mom has offered her machine up!!).  The good news is, this flat challenge came at a great time, because it's so easy to wash and dry these diapers upstairs in…

Day 5: Flats and Handwashing Challenge – #flatschallenge #clothdiapers

This is the third night, this week, that the water has gone out.  My mom called, and they said they were sending a technician, but they had no idea why the neighborhood keeps losing water. The main thing I've learned this week is to wash early!  Once everyone gets home from school and work, starts cooking dinner and getting showers, there's a good possibility that we're losing water!! Today's Flat Lineup! In all seriousness, though, the main two things that I've learned during this challenge are: I don't really have to pack my entire diaper stash when I head out…
