Netflix Summer Originals | #StreamTeam

This summer, you're going to need something to watch while taking a break from the heat.  Netflix has some great original series to watch while you have downtime on vacation, waiting for your little one to finish with dance or baseball practices, or when you simply need time for yourself, Now that baseball is in full swing, The Hubby is pretty upset that his Netflix time has been drastically reduced!  I'm a huge baseball fan, so I love to watch the games from start to finish.  He really didn't want to upgrade to the baseball channel for the season, because…

Netflix Lessons on Lying | #StreamTeam

Whether we like it or not, lies are a part of life. Adults, teenagers, and kids alike tell lies in an attempt to stay out of trouble, to protect others and to make others happy. Some lies, like the white lies that we tell everyday are harmless. We say we're good to avoid getting into a discussion about our tiring, chaotic day filled with family drama and we tell our kids that Santa is real and can totally deliver gifts to every kid in the world on one single night. Other lies however, aren't that harmless. Like when you catch…

The Adventures of Puss in Boots on Netflix | #StreamTeam

One of the things i love most about Netflix is that there is so much from which to choose, that my kiddos can find anything to watch at any given time!  Right now, The Minion is stuck on shows and videos about animals, so the new DreamWorks presentation of the Netflix originoal serious, The Adventures of Puss in Boots,  is right up his ally! Truth be told, The Adventures of Puss in Boots on Netflix is great for all ages!  I catch myself watching it from time to time!  Season 1 has 5 episodes available, and you're guaranteed to love them!  We take turns…

Mini Milestones with Netflix | #StreamTeam

We've had some pretty significant events in our house over the last couple of months!  We don't really go crazy over firsts or milestones, but some of them are a little note-worthy this go 'round!   The Hubby and I officially launched a local community website complete with community event calendar, business directory, and city resource list.  This was no small feat!  There was a lot of time, research, and late nights involved, but together we make it work.  It's a great asset to our community! The Teenager (aside from the broken bones which will be left for another post!) attended…

Netflix TGIF: Pizza and a Movie | #StreamTeam

Now that school has started back up, we all have a ton of things going on!  For us, we have activities six nights out of the week.  Between jujitsu and church, the only night we have absolutely free after school is Monday, and that's usually set aside to get the bulk of homework done for the week!  On Fridays, jujitsu lets out early, so that's the day (if we do not have something else planned) that we like to try to set aside for Netflix Movie Night.  We don't really feel like driving out to the city so I'll most…

Teaching Kindness and Acceptance with Netflix | #StreamTeam

With bullying being so prevalent in the youth (and adults) of America, right now is a great time to talk with your kids about kindness and how to accept others even when they are different from you.  Back to School time is perfect for setting new goals and personal standards for the school year. Sometimes, the best way to help our kids learn about these qualities is through engaging movies. One of my favorite movies from my childhood is The Fox and the Hound.  (Yeah, 1981?!!)  It depicts an essentially "blended friendship" where an orphaned fox and a puppy meet…

Netflix: School’s in for Summer | #StreamTeam

With just under a month left in Summer Vacation here in the East Houston area, we're still trying to stay as far away from school oriented topics as we can!  This district works the kids pretty hard, so we're happy to have this much needed long break!  The good thing is, with Netflix, they can learn even if they don't know it!  I really like how you can set different profiles for different members of your family. For The Minion, Netfilx has great educations movies and shows from which to choose.  I can remember when I was younger, and some…
