I’ve recently joined a semi-local “crunchy” group for the Houston, Texas area, and one of my new friends in the group shared the tutorial she did for making the Rita’s Rump Pocket Cloth Diaper!  Although she lives in Tampa, Florida, Shannon from Green Mommy Diapers has an awesome cloth diapering website with fantastic ideas!  She also offers diaper sewing lessons in Tampa, Florida.

She did a fantastic job, and I wanted to share! One thing I would love for you to note is how  is very frugal Shannon is with her fabric. Because moisture wicking fabrics such as polyester fleece and suede can be more expensive than basic absorbent fabrics such as flannel, she only uses a panel across the moisture areas. This saves money and fabric as well as time! It’s brilliant!

When I brought up the fact that I don’t do cloth diapers, but I would like to try this with my own fitteds and AIO’s, this was the response I received from Shannon:

Lisa, I made quite a few scrap fitted diapers for my LO, and this made the most sense after a while. I try to waste nothing. I was hoping the techniques would translate easily for people to start making their own fitteds and AIO, too! I really hope my tutorials teach more than how to make a specific project. When I give sewing lessons, I try to make sure the students have a full grasp on each step, so they can branch out on their own from there.

Full grasp?  Check!

Here is her cloth diaper sewing tutorial!  The best I’ve seen!
