Ten years ago, today, it was just as hot as it is right now.  Why we decided to get married, outside, in August, I have no idea, but we did.

The day before, Andy’s parents’ hosted our rehearsal dinner at Ryan’s Family Steakhouse in Waco, Texas.

Our wedding day was so hot (over 100°). We had a steadily popping balloon arch (yes, it was so hot, the balloons were popping every few seconds, which called for giggles the whole 3.5 minute wedding!), a couple of canopies, and lots of people in the front of my parents’ house in Groesbeck, Texas.  My mom made my dress as well as Kylie’s dress.  Two of my bridesmaids wore capris! Stacy did all of the flowers and bouquets!

Our colors were periwinkle and yellow with the plumbago as our “official flower” (that’s what mom had growing in her planters in the front)!  Our wedding cake topper was a Dreamcicles gift from Stacy.

Brother Troy Brooks, with his broken wrist, officiated.

Kylie was our  Flower Girl, and her friend Cody was the Ring Bearer.  Stacy was my Maid of Honor and Johnathan was Andy’s Best Man.  I surely wish I had more than one picture in digital format!

Erin, Kim, and Kara were my bridesmaids and Ryan, Josh, and Brett were groomsmen.

The wedding song we chose was Faith Hill’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow , and Mrs. K played the keyboard!  I only wish now, that Israel Kamakawiwo‘ole‘s version of the song had been out then!  I listen to this song every day!

We drove off, after the wedding, in a cloud of bubbles, and headed to Waco, where my parents gifted us with a hotel stay at the Hampton!

Looking back on that day, the only two things I would have changed would have been that my Mother in Law lived closer so that she could have made our cake, and that my Papa Harold would have lived long enough to meet Andy and see us married.
