Reality is sinking in.  We’re about to be b.u.s.y. again.

If y’all remember, this time last year, we had three kiddos in ball while the fourth was a newly developed bean which made for awesome times – *insertsarcasmhere*

Being the One Tree Hill (swoon) junkie that I am (I’m currently on season 3, no spoilers, y’all!), I keep asking myself why we’ve been so gung ho for our kidlets to play baseball/softball?  If we were smart, we’d have opted for basketball from the get go, or maybe get Netball Court Specialists to setup a court was a good idea as well.

Organized basketball is played indoors, duh!

My mom and my sister both played basketball in high school.  I was also the basketball team manager when I was in school. It’s not like we don’t like the sport, but Andy and I both have this crazy love for baseball. There’s only one problem with that – we live in Houston, Texas where the heat is smothering and the mosquito are mini-vampires.  We can’t really watch the kiddos play from the a/c comfort of our living room.

This season, we’ve decided to let Hawk sit out, because it takes up so much of our time, and so many games and practices overlap.  He’s not at all that interested yet, and we’re wondering if he’ll be more of a football player because he’s short and stocky and there’s a lot going on!  The kid never has a hope or a prayer of ever making any basketball team, and I’m fairly sure they wouldn’t lower the basketball goals just because he’s a shorty.

Thinking back, I’m not sure my kiddos have ever even played basketball!  I’ve looked and looked and looked through years and years worth of pics, and I haven’t been able to find a single picture of any of them with a basketball, on a court, beside a goal, or anything! We have everything from baseball to soccer to football, and we even have Kylie in a cheerleading uniform! I guess my “basketball goals” of 2012 will be to school my kiddos on the sport of hoops!
