Andy and I are sitting here watching Doomsday Preppers, and can I just say.. wow.?!

doomsday preppersLet me just preface by saying that I completely agree with being ready for something to happen.  Having your paperwork in order and in one place, keeping a supply of food and water, and even getting together firearms, just in case….  but these people basically prep for a specific event.

This episode we’re watching, this guy met this girl on a dating site, goes to Columbia to get to know her, and invites her back to America to marry him.  Cool right?  Ha.  She had no idea what a prepper was.  She wass a bit freaked out by this guy.  I don’t blame her.

Can you imagine falling in love with a guy, moving to a different country to marry him, and then finding out that you’re not really all that “free” because the guy you love lives his life like he’s going to have to “bug out” and live off grid at any moment?

I’m pretty sure I’d have hit the road as soon as I found all of it out!

She married him anyway!

A friend of mine has a “bug out” bag and they do occasional drills in the home in case someone breaks in or something happens, but it’s completely normal.  Her husband was in the military, and he’s all about being ready.  Makes sense.

Are you a prepper?  Do you know someone who is?
