Andy and I have been married for twelve years, and as you can imagine, with four kids in the mix, just about everything we’ve had up until this point has either been destroyed or broken.  We’ve learned, along the way, that the good stuff stays put up until we have company or our little ones prove old enough to use it carefully.  That’s why I vow to protect my new Pfaltzgraff Dinnerware with everything I have!  It’s absolutely off limits to the kiddos.

Pfaltzgraff

My new Pfaltgraff Calico stoneware is pretty awesome.  Each place setting comes with the following:

  • 11 inch dinner plate
  • 8.5 inch salad plate
  • 16 ounce soup bowl
  • 12 ounce mug

Microwave & Dishwasher Safe

I love the whole set for many reasons, but my two favorite pieces are the soup bowl and the mug.  We’ve never had soup bowls so deep!  They are definitely for generous portions.  The mug is great for using my single serve coffee system.  Most of my other mugs are 10-11 ounces, and they do not quite give me enough room to add cream to my coffee.  I love this mug.

I love the geometric tile pattern, and the colors go so well with the curtains we have by our dining table. I love it.   It’s really cool how each piece is unique because they are hand crafted which means that the pattern is not exactly the same.   In some places, you’ll see one color splattered out of place, and I love that.

One of my favorite soups to have in my new Pfaltzgraff soup bowl is Mashed Potato and Garlic Corn Chowder.

Mashed Potato and Garlic Corn Chowder Recipe

Ingredients

  •  2 cups of prepared Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 cups of Milk
  • 2 cups of Whole Kernel Corn (frozen or cut off the cob)
  • 1/2 cup of chopped Onion
  • 1/4 cup of chopped or minced Garlic
  • 1/2 cup of chopped or dried Parsley
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup your choice of Grated Cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter or bacon grease
  • Pinch of Paprika

Directions

  1. In medium pan, saute onion with butter or bacon grease until cooked.
  2. In large pot, add mashed potatoes, milk, corn, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Heat uncovered on medium heat, stirring often.
  3. Just before your chowder comes to a boil, reduce heat to low and add cheese.  Ready to serve when cheese is completely melted and mixed in.
  4. Serve garnished with parsley, paprika, and/or cheese in your Pfaltzgraff Stoneware Soup Bowl.

Optional – Crumble bacon on top of chowder just before serving so that it stays crispy and not soggy in the chowder.

Disclosure – I was given a Pfaltzgraff place setting for eight in exchange for my review.  All opinions are my own.
