The Architect and the Builder – This is real life.

Last night, Hawk "I have to go to work on my ga-puter".  He grabbed his Wall-E computer, two chairs, plopped down, and went to work.  I'm not sure if he just sees us type fast, or if he's seen it on some movie somewhere, but he was going to town banging on those keys!  It reminded me of Schroeder playing the piano in the Charlie Brown Peanuts shows! The Architect Then, this morning, I wake up to Legos clanking in the playroom.  Hawk heard it too, because he was up and in there before I could get the camera out.  I overheard…

5 things to have handy on Christmas morning!

Before the sun even shows it's face on Christmas morning, the kiddos scamper into the living room as fast as they can to see what all good ol' St. Nick has left them as he trekked his way around the globe the night before. A briefcase for dad? Nope, for the 6 year old!

For Christmas, this year, my 6 year old will be getting a briefcase.  Yes, you read that correctly - a briefcase. No, he's not a 6 year old super geek (like his daddy), but I can say that he's one of those kids that sees something that he dubs cool in his mind, and he sticks with it. What can POSSIBLY be cool about a briefcase, you ask?  Briefcases double as gun cases, didn't you know!? (more…)

Every year, the kids and I get together and make Advent Calendars!  The word Advent simply means coming or arrival.  I can remember when I was little, and we had a calendar made out of green felt with red trim and red yarn dangling.  My parents would go purchase a pack of small candy canes and tie one to each set of yarn strands. My sisters and I would take turns every day, pulling off candy cane, counting down to the days of Christmas!  For many families, that's where the countdown ends.  For our family, it's a bit different! Yes,…
