This weekend, Kylie went the Hot Hearts Youth Conference in Beaumont where she was surrounded by about 7,400 other kiddos, and they had an absolute blast!

This week, it’s a different story.

Sunday night, she started running a low grade fever.  The youth were leading the Sunday night service at church, so my mom took her up there so the could get up and speak about conference.

Apparently, they are housed in various churches, and a few of the leaders told us that they had the A/C set to around 45 degrees (who does that!?), so the kids were freezing all night. But, when you’re around that many people right at the end of a flu epidemic, you’re bound to get something, right?

In the middle of the night Sunday, her temperature spiked to 103 degrees.  All day Monday, she ran a fever, and it never went under 102 degrees.  At one point, she said it was 105.6 (?).

Tuesday, when the fever did not break, I took her to her pediatrician.  She did the flu test, strep test, and mono test, and they were all negative.  Worried about not being able to try out for track, this week, or attend her UIL Solo Competition on Saturday, we agreed to give her a shot of penicillian and a shot of steriod to help speed up the healing process.  She was also given antibiotics pills for seven days and cough syrup with codiene.

It’s been almost 24 hours since she got the shots and started taking the meds, and her fever still has no broken.

We’ve been told by friends and family that their kids has similar illnesses that did the same thing fro 4-5 days with the fever never going down.

She’s also worried about getting behind at school, because we live in a very tough district with lots of daily work and homework.

She’s miserable, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
