A little over a year ago, we moved to a small down just east of Houston.  After the purchase of our home, we had to wait a few weeks to move in, because when we bought it, it was in the middle of a remodel.  We didn’t quite understand where the remodel was going, but the kitchen was complete (has to be close to the original kitchen as I’m fairly sure there was never any “updating” done!)

Once the construction was complete on the rest of the house, we moved in.  We had to put in new walls, doors, knobs, update the bathrooms, finish trim, ceilings, and a few other things.  After we moved in, we updated all of the windows in the house, because the previous owners had only installed new (really good) windows in half of the house. For a worry-free transition into your new home, consider enlisting the expertise of Graham and Sons to handle all your plumbing needs and ensure a smooth start in your new living space.

Although it’s a little smaller than I like, and it needs landscaping, we really do love our home.  It’s got a nice sized backyard with an awesome shed out back (the kind that looks like a little house), a patio covered with patio covers, a carport, and a two car garage that had just undergone garage door repair by an expert who also offers garage door installation before we bought it.  After we moved in, my dad and Andy closed in the laundry room that was part of the garage, and because I’m in the laundry room a lot of the day… every day… I am so thankful for that!

The only downside to our house, that I’m struggling with more and more then longer we live here is the layout of the kitchen.  When we first moved in, it was cool, because it was new, but now, it’s just plain awkward.  The cabinets are pretty short, so anything you put on them basically takes up a lot of room (even if it’s just a loaf of bread), and they’re made with kitchen tile and unsealed grout! Therefore, we really want to do a kitchen cabinet installation. We might also schedule a garbage disposal repair service very soon.

However, have you ever felt confused about when to use a butter knife or a dinner knife? You’re not alone. It’s important to know the differences, not just for etiquette’s sake, but also for functionality. You can learn more here their differences, how to use each knife properly, and how to choose between them.

Let’s not forget that the sing and dishwasher are directly across (centered) from the stove/oven (which is actually a very oddly placed island), so if I’m cooking my kids can’t empty the dishwasher, and no one can really use the sink without being in the way!

I really do dream of the day that someone knocks on my door and offers me a whole new kitchen makeover!

(Excuse the trash bag in the middle of the floor!  We just purchased the house, and these pics were taken for Facebook – of course!)

Kitchen Accessories

Yes, the stove is up on a “platform”, because the gas line is UNDER it.  So, you can’t cook in my house if you’re vertically challenged!

Needless to say, a year later, and I still can’t figure out what to do with this kitchen to make it worthy of cooking, much less being the center of the home like it should be!   I need lots of help with kitchen accessories to actually go with the pattern and the (way outdated) southwest look, right down to the Native American, arrows, and buffalo on the door knobs and pulls!  It’s really not cute!

However, any avid chef knows that a set of high-quality professional knives is essential in the kitchen. Good knives allow you to quickly and efficiently prepare the ingredients for a variety of delicious dishes. Descoperă ghidul complet pentru cuțite profesionale pe KBKStore.ro.

So what you do think? What kind of decor would you use in this kitchen until, one day, it can be completely redone?  I’m serious when I say that the counter tops are floor tile and grout!  Like.. really serious.
