Not too long ago, one of my neighbors paid another one of my neighbors (teenager) to teach his son how to ride his bike.Ā  He learned in about 10 minutes, so it was pretty much a quick payday for the teenager!Ā  However, we still have several little ones in the neighborhood to teach to ride a bike, and we’ll either have to do it ourselves or go broke fairly quickly.

One of the products that we’ve found is a great help at a really early age is the Chicco Red Bullet Balance Bike to help them learn how to balance and ride a bike when they’re a little older.Ā  This is a GREAT gift to add to your Christmas list!

This is definitely something we could have used when Braxton and Hawk were a little smaller (Hawk could probably still use it with his short legs!).Ā  It’s rated for kiddos 3 and up, so we didn’t really think that Jett would know what to do when we pulled it out and put it together.Ā  He seemed really eager to get on it, because he’s seen his brothers get on their bikes.

The first time we put him on it, he kept looking for the pedals.Ā  He was putting his feet up on the frame several times.Ā  It really was cute, and because he’s not even 2 years old, yet, I didn’t really expect him to understand when I tried to tell him how to use it!Ā  He had his helmet on, he was on the bike, I was ready with my camera, and for some reason, Andy let go of him at the exact time he put his feet up on the frame, and he fell over!Ā  I didn’t even get a picture!

Now, he and the kidlets in the neighborhood like getting on it because it’s new and shiny and the only one of it’s kind in the neighborhood.Ā  I like it because Jett is at the age where everything is powered by his feet Flintstone style anyway, so we don’t have to worry about teaching him how to use pedals at the same time as everything else.Ā  It’s really great for learning the foundation of riding a bike, and that’s balance.

Even though it’s technically Fall, we still have a couple of Summer months left in Texas, and the kiddos all enjoy playing in the street together, and I love that Jett can ride his “bike” now, like one of the big boys!
